A letter from Alex Bradford, CEO and co-founder of Rain
When we started Rain, we were focused on solving a very real problem for millions of employees.
The timing of pay did not match the timing of life.
Bills arrive when they arrive. Emergencies happen without warning. But for most employees, income was locked behind a traditional pay cycle that left little room for flexibility.
Earned wage access helped fix that. It gave employees access to the money they had already earned, when they actually needed it. Since then, Rain has delivered more than $4+ billion in earned wages to 3.5+ million employees across 1,200+ employers, including companies like McDonald’s, Marriott and T-Mobile.
But over time we realized something important.
Access to earned pay just solves a problem in the moment. Longer-term financial stability requires something much bigger.
For decades, financial health programs have tried to help employees through tools, education or one-time benefits. But many of these solutions are complex, time-intensive and may not apply to an individual employee’s specific circumstances. They’re an additional burden to navigate when employees are already worried about making rent, covering groceries or avoiding another overdraft fee.
The financial system has also historically punished people when they are already down. A missed payment, an overdraft or a temporary cash shortfall can trigger fees that make the situation even worse.
We started asking ourselves a different question.
We kept coming back to a simple question: what if the system worked for people instead of against them? What if every employee had something closer to a dedicated financial manager - one that didn't wait to be asked, but actively kept them on track?
Modern AI technology makes it possible. So we built it: the world’s first AI financial health agent for the modern workforce. It represents the next step in the evolution of Rain’s financial health platform.
Instead of simply offering insights or recommendations, Rain’s AI financial health agent works 24/7, helping users stabilize their cash flows, reduce expenses and improve financial outcomes over time.

At the core of this system is something that only Rain can offer.
Rain uniquely combines employees' real-time earnings information with real-time financial data that employees connect. This combination of data gives Rain context that no other financial application or benefits platform can replicate.
Rain can now anticipate financial challenges before they happen and help prevent them rather than reacting to them after the fact, using an agentic system of specialized skills that puts money back in users’ pockets.
Instead of asking employees to constantly monitor their finances, Rain’s AI financial health agent works around the clock on their behalf - anticipating problems, finding opportunities, and taking actions - to:
Within a few years, I believe everyone will have an AI financial agent helping them manage their finances. Rain will be the one they trust.
