This FAQ document is designed to assist employees in learning more about Papa Johns’ new partnership with Rain. If you have additional questions about the program after reviewing this FAQ, please contact Rain directly by phone, (424-369-7246), or email, care@rain.us.

Who is "Rain" and what service do they provide?

Rain is a financial wellness benefit offered by Papa Johns. Employees can access their earned wages before their regularly scheduled payday through the Rain app.

Who is eligible to participate in Rain?

Rain is available to all active hourly Papa Johns employees.

When will Rain be available to Papa Johns employees?

Rain will be available to employees beginning Friday, May 17th, 2024.

How does Rain work?

Through the Rain App, employees request to receive up to 50% of their earned wages before their scheduled payday. The amount of advanced pay is then deducted from the employee’s next paycheck. The pay advance is not deemed a loan and no interest is assessed.

How do I get started with Rain?

Download the free "Rain Instant Pay" App from the Apple App Store or Google Play store. Create an account and select "Sun Holdings" as your employer. Use the email address and phone number that matches your payroll profile in UKG.

Is Rain a loan?

Rain is not a loan, and there are no fees other than the small advancement fee of $3.99 for instant transfers. There is no interest. The balance generated in the Rain app is derived from earned wages in a given pay period. Anything advanced will be deducted from the employee’s next paycheck.

Where do earned wages come from?

Papa Johns signed up for Rain so employees can access wages from the Rain app. Earned wage information comes directly from Papa Johns. Employees will see earned wages in the Rain app within 24 hours of a completed shift.

Why has Papa Johns partnered with Rain?

When the immediate need for funds occurs between paychecks, Rain can provide employees with alternatives to high-interest-rate payday loans and high overdraft fees.

How does Rain transfer pay advance funds to me and what is the cost?
  • ACH transfer to any bank account (1-3 business days): FREE
  • Instant transfer to an external debit card: $3.99 fee per transfer
    • The fee is adjusted from the next paycheck, not the transfer
How is the available cash balance calculated in the Rain App?

For pay advance purposes, eligible pay is always calculated based on the employee’s hourly wage rate multiplied by the hours they have worked in a given pay cycle and divided in half (or multiplied by 50%). They will only have access to 50% of a maximum of 8 hours of working wages.

(Hourly Rate x Hours Worked / 2) = Cash Balance in App

How soon after an (hourly) employee’s shift will Rain be notified of the employee’s punches?

Rain receives employees’ punch data multiple times daily, and the Rain app will reflect a balance of pay that can be advanced. Therefore, wages will be reflected in the Rain app within 24 hours of the employee’s shift ending.

Suppose payday arrives and an employee’s payroll deductions and tax withholdings exceed the total amount the employee has advanced. What happens to the employee’s Papa Johns paycheck and the employee’s account with Rain?

In this scenario, the employee’s net pay with Papa Johns would be zero for that pay date and the employee will be placed into an "arrears" status with Rain. Rain would then flag the employee’s account as “paused.” Papa Johns only allows an advancement of 50% of earned wages to protect the employee from having a $0 paycheck.

How will the Rain advance appear on an employee’s pay stub?

The total amount transferred during each pay period will be shown as a separate line-item deduction with the code RAIN.
