Frontline employees need fast, simple access to the information that matters most. Microsoft Viva Connections was built to solve that problem by creating a digital landing page inside Microsoft Teams, designed to keep employees connected, informed and supported wherever work happens.
Now, Rain’s earned wage access platform is integrated directly into Microsoft Teams through Viva Connections, giving employees real-time visibility into their earned wages inside the tools they already use every day.
Microsoft Viva Connections is a customizable app within Microsoft Teams that serves as a digital front door for an organization. It brings together key resources such as SharePoint content, internal communications, daily work tasks, holiday schedules and operational tools in a single, mobile-friendly experience.
Originally designed with frontline workers in mind, Viva Connections makes it easier for employees to stay connected on the move, without needing to navigate multiple apps or systems.
Viva Connections includes a set of out-of-the-box dashboard cards that organizations can configure based on their business needs. Employers can also introduce new cards and experiences to support specific workflows, systems and employee priorities.
This flexibility is what makes the Rain integration such a strong fit.
Rain recently announced a new integration with Microsoft Teams that allows employees to view their available earned wage balance directly within their daily workspace. This makes Rain one of the first earned wage access providers available within Microsoft Teams.
“Earned wage access is proving to be an essential employer-sponsored benefit offering for employees,” said Shohan Rahman, VP of Channel Sales and Partnerships at Rain. “With Microsoft Teams, one of the most widely used workplace platforms, employees can easily see their earned wage balance in a platform they engage with every day.”
Through Viva Connections, Rain appears as a dashboard card alongside other commonly used cards such as payroll information, scheduling and shifts. Employees can see their available earned wage balance without searching for the Rain app or switching contexts.
Because many employees already check Viva Connections daily, adding Rain creates a familiar, frictionless experience with no learning curve.
Viva Connections already integrates with payroll and scheduling systems like ADP and Workday. These cards can display information such as:
When Rain is added to this view, earned wage access becomes part of a larger financial picture rather than a standalone tool. Employees can make better decisions because all the relevant information is visible in one place.
Here is how this experience comes together for an employee.
On a Tuesday afternoon, John realizes a $250 utility bill is due on Thursday. His bank balance is low, and his next payday is still more than a week away. In a traditional workplace, this situation often leads to stress, uncertainty or reliance on costly alternatives.
With Microsoft Viva Connections and Rain, the experience is transformed.
Instant visibility
John opens the Teams app on his phone. On the Viva Connections dashboard, the ADP card shows there are eight days remaining until his next paycheck.
Real-time earned wage access
Right next to it, the Rain card shows an available earned wage balance of $125.
Proactive planning
John checks the Shifts card and sees he does not have any additional shifts scheduled for the week. He realizes that paying the bill without a plan could leave him with a negative balance and a $35 overdraft fee.
A better decision
With all the information in one view, John picks up an extra shift and plans to use Rain before the bill is due.
The result
John has more control and confidence. The visibility provided by Viva Connections, paired with Rain, turns a potential financial crisis into a manageable week.
When employees have access to timely, relevant financial information, they do more than make better short-term decisions. They become more engaged, more focused and less distracted by financial stress.
By integrating Rain into Viva Connections, employers can support financial health directly within the flow of work. This is especially impactful for frontline teams who rely on mobile access and real-time information.
“Integrating Rain’s earned wage access solution into Teams gives employers another way to empower their workers with modern, mobile-friendly tools that support their day-to-day work and overall well-being,” said Jeff Strasser, general manager, AI Business Solutions, US Retail and CPG at Microsoft.
The Rain integration is fully configurable within Microsoft Teams and Viva Connections.
By bringing Rain’s responsible earned wage access solution into Microsoft Viva Connections, employers can create a more connected, supported and financially resilient workforce, all from a single digital front door.
